muammar gaddafi is vowing to stay in power, there is a mass exodus along libya's borders, thousands crossing into egypt, many call the situation inside of the country a slaughter house. >> and in the astro there is some reason to celebrate there has been a policy reversal on same-sex marriage. and here in california the court fight continues over prop 8, banning same-sex marriage. and opponents are asking those marriages be allowed to resume and mark matthews is here with more. >> they filed a motion today in the courts. looks as if the two are somehow related because opponents of prop 8 before we got the announcement from the department in washington, d.c. and this has been a big day.

several watches about to go into affect. >> there is a very cold storm system that is dropping down from canada. this has prompted all of the watches and advisories. let's start with winter weather advisory. tomorrow afternoon, continuing throughout friday morning morning. an inch of snow expected down to a thousand feet. two to four inches and could see about a half foot or more above 2500 feet. and we're talking about a winter weather advisory around clear lake area rmt and this is hazardous driving conditions for the area. and... we sl v.a winter storm watch. this you can see in sierra nevada. for this santa cruz mountains from thursday evening throughout friday evening. one inch down to a thousand feet two to four inch as above 1500. could see a half foot or more. we're also going to see the

possibility of snow down to sea level. i'll be back with a look at the forecast in just a few minutes. >> thank you very much. >> in new zealandand police say the death toll from the christchurch quake is now risen to 76. 238 people remain missing in the quake. and authorities have not found trapped survivors since this rescue yesterday afternoon. but they believe there might still be pockets of survivors. in thousands of smaller buildings that have yet to be searched. >> we just want them home. yes. we just are sending our prayers to people and let's just remember that. we hope for the best fearing for the worst. >> officials evacuated a two-block area around a hotel and believe it's in danger of collapse.

there is a night time curfew to keep people away from the building asks and to prevent crime. noelle sis nair yos is covering the quake with us. i talked with her about the scene around that hotel. >> one of the really critical situations here in christchurch which has everybody on edge is that tallest building in downtown christchurch is a 27-story grand chancellor hotel. the ground has failed due to liquifaction and foundation of the building failed. thaifd -- they have had 5,000 after shocks here and what they're concerned about if this hits hard enough, that that building will come down all at once, and threaten all of the buildings in the areas. so only people in that very central part of the city are the military personnel trying to keep people away.

if you recognize the man in this video detectives believe he's the same man who beat and sexual assaulted a woman inside of her apartment complex on jackson street near chinatown february 7th. police looking to see if this attack just a short distance away. >> the former ahead of napa state hospital is going to prison forest of his life. the judge sentenced him to 248 years for molesting his adopted son over an eight year period. the judge called him a sick, sick man and drew a a.plaus when issuing maximum sentence. a jury convicted him of engaging in sex acts with a child. five other men testified he had abused them for years. he denied all charges. >> and the partial collapse of

health found lead in some of them up to 300 times federal standards. the attorney general filed suit against eight suppliers and today, two major company as agreed to severely limit lead in their play structures. we're told that could make it safer for about half of the bounce houses but... not all so parents should watch children hands any time they use them. >> if there is lead dust they're going to ghaet dust on their hands, then they finish they're going to run out to grab a piece of kaing and that dust on their hands is going to end up in their mouths. >> under the settlement two agreed to test bounce houses that are already being rented out and replaced dangerous ones. >> if you have an old library card and a new ipad you can down load both for free. apple has a new application letting you wirelessly down load e books from the library.

there is good news to report this, little boy we talked about a little while ago, christian rubio has been found safe, he's okay. apparently he twont a friend's house and just didn't tell his parents. they were frantic. a big search and everyone looking for him but he's just fine. probably has explaining to do now but he's okay that. is good news. >> probably in a little bit of trouble. we're glad he's fine. >> americans not the only ones gaining weight. pets are, too and according to a study more than half are overweight. and one fifth class fived as obese. and it's important to stop giving treats, measure meals and give them daily exercise. >> and stay with us.
